Application
There are no minutes to waste in any classroom, and the online classroom is no different. I use a fairly consistent format of ~5 minutes for personal engagement, ~5-10 minutes for homework review, ~15-20 minutes for new content, ~15+ for content application/practice (depending on class length), and ~2-3 minutes for a summary that includes gains in knowledge, areas of growth, and a confidence check. Ethan's classes are 60 minutes, so we usually spend around 15 minutes on new material, catered to his areas of growth and interests. The summary at the end of class is recorded separately and sent to all parties to buttress goals, growth, and provide an additional source of program management.
